Set up MilePocket for your first trip
Start with the same MilePocket account you plan to keep using, then check permissions and select your vehicle before driving.
- Sign in and check the account shown in Account.
- In iPhone Settings, set MilePocket location access to Always and enable Precise Location. Check Motion & Fitness permissions for recording.
- Check your vehicle and recording settings in the app. After a short drive, review the saved trip in Trips.
What to expect You can review the trip, its vehicle, distance and Business or Personal category.
Recording depends on device settings, signal and background operation. Recheck permissions after changing phones.
A trip did not appear. What should I check?
A trip that is still being recorded, a filtered view and a recording interruption can look similar. Start by checking Trips on the phone used for the drive.
- Check the selected date and Business/Personal filters, and whether a trip is still active.
- Check recording settings and iPhone location and motion permissions.
- If the trip is on your phone but missing elsewhere, check synchronization. If it is missing on the recording phone, contact support with its approximate time.
What to expect You can identify a display or sync issue, or give support a specific recording issue to investigate.
Changing a permission does not recreate previously unrecorded GPS points. Avoid deleting the app while investigating.
What happens during fuel stops, waiting or overnight stops?
Do not assume that every stop immediately ends a trip. What is saved depends on the recording mode, settings and the signals available to the phone.
- When parked, check whether Trips shows an active or completed trip.
- After refueling or waiting, review the saved start, end and distance.
- After an overnight stop, check the dates and any trip boundaries before using your records.
What to expect Your saved records reflect the journey as recorded; you can spot unexpected gaps or boundaries.
This guide does not promise a fixed stop timer. For an unexpected result, send support the stop time, app version and connection method.
Why are Check a Load miles different from Trips miles?
Check a Load estimates a route from the locations you provide. Trips calculates recorded distance from the phone’s location data. The numbers can differ.
- Compare the same start and end points. Check whether the estimate includes deadhead.
- Consider route changes, detours and additional stops.
- Review the recorded route for location gaps and compare the same time period.
What to expect You can explain a difference in route scope or identify a possible recording issue.
GPS mileage can also differ from the odometer. Signal, permissions and interruptions affect recording; a fixed error margin is not guaranteed.
Check your vehicle, Bluetooth and CarPlay connection
A saved vehicle and a detected phone connection are related but different. CarPlay is an iPhone feature; a cable connection alone does not confirm that MilePocket recognized the vehicle.
- Check the selected vehicle and its saved connection in the app.
- Confirm the phone is connected to the intended vehicle. Check the Bluetooth or CarPlay connection you normally use.
- If recognition fails, park safely and note whether the connection was wired or wireless, then contact support.
What to expect You can verify the selected vehicle and describe which connection was not recognized.
When switching vehicles, review the vehicle on the saved trip. Recognition depends on the phone and the vehicle connection.
Include empty miles before and after a load
Deadhead to pickup and a planned move toward the next load both affect your work. Decide which legs belong in your comparison before calculating total miles.
- Add the empty distance from your starting location to pickup.
- Add the loaded distance. Include repositioning afterward when you want to evaluate that wider journey.
- Check which legs Check a Load already includes. Do not count the same leg twice or assume repositioning is added automatically.
What to expect Your comparison uses the miles you intend to drive, with each leg counted once.
Route estimates do not establish commercial vehicle access. Confirm original load details and vehicle restrictions separately.
Compare loaded RPM with RPM for the whole route
Loaded RPM divides pay by loaded miles. Total-route RPM divides the same pay by loaded plus included empty miles. More empty miles lower that second figure; they do not automatically make a load a bad choice.
- Use the same offer payment for both calculations.
- Divide by loaded miles, then by the total miles included in your comparison.
- Compare the result with your own costs, time and next available options.
What to expect You can see the effect of deadhead without treating one RPM threshold as right for every load.
Examples are rounded USD per mile, before expenses. Finance period RPM uses its own mileage scope; it is not necessarily a single-load RPM.
What is left after fuel and tolls is not final take-home income
An offer minus estimated fuel and tolls leaves a remainder after those two costs. Maintenance, insurance, vehicle payments, other business costs and taxes can still affect what you keep.
- Check which costs the load estimate actually subtracts.
- In Finance, review Gross, recorded Expenses, Net and Unpaid for the same period. A payment status is not bank verification.
- Consider costs and taxes not included in those records. Do not subtract a cost twice.
What to expect You can distinguish an estimate, your recorded financial result and money available for personal use.
Net depends on the records and costs included. It is not a calculation of after-tax income. Vehicle cash payments and tax deductions are different concepts.
Check a period and export your records
Different periods, categories or sync states can produce different totals. Review the selected records before exporting or comparing the app with your web account.
- Choose the period and check Business/Personal filters where shown.
- Confirm the latest records have synchronized if you are using the web account.
- Use the export option offered on that screen, then check dates, mileage and amounts in the downloaded file.
What to expect Your export contains the records selected on that platform at the time of export.
Available export formats vary by screen and platform. Keep downloaded files private and review records before giving them to an accountant.
Find the latest records or move to a new iPhone
Your web account and other devices show synchronized records. Changes still waiting on the recording phone may not appear elsewhere yet.
- Check that both devices use the same MilePocket account and have an internet connection.
- In Account → Cloud and Devices, check the primary phone. Use Sync now and review Last completed.
- On a new iPhone, check synchronized records and grant device permissions again before relying on automatic recording.
What to expect You can compare the latest completed sync with the records visible on each device.
Only synchronized data can be recovered from the cloud. Signing out is different from deleting an account; use supported account deletion controls for deletion.
Find loads and check the source details
Available load information depends on the supported connection and your account. A filtered list helps you review offers; it does not book a load.
- Check the search location and the filters shown in Loads.
- Open an offer and review pickup, delivery, schedule and the information supplied by the source.
- Confirm current availability and requirements with the original provider before committing.
What to expect You have a smaller set of offers to evaluate with current source details.
Feeds and alerts may be delayed or incomplete. Route Match is a planning filter, not confirmation of vehicle access or permission to combine loads.
Check the inputs behind a fuel estimate
Fuel estimates use the information provided, such as MPG, fuel price and planned miles. They are not a live reading from your vehicle.
- Check the selected vehicle, fuel type and MPG.
- Review the price and its date where shown. Update manually entered fuel levels after driving or refueling.
- Compare the estimate with actual pump prices and your own vehicle consumption.
What to expect You can identify the assumptions behind the estimate and update stale inputs.
Fuel search availability depends on your account. Station prices may be missing or outdated; confirm fuel type, price and vehicle access at the station.
